Discover the neighbourhoods and trades of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine from 1900 to 1960: a walking tour of the village.
In the heart of the Mauges region, Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine offers a 1.5km walking trail to discover its local heritage. This self-guided interpretation walk follows an easy loop through the streets and countryside of the village.
Along the way, 12 interpretation panels invite you to observe, read and understand the history of the area. They evoke daily life between 1900 and 1960: trades, the village school, the chapel, craft workshops, the Petit Anjou railway station and country lanes. Each stop offers a glimpse of what has shaped the town's identity.
The tour starts in the square in front of the Musée des Métiers, a place where the skills and know-how of yesteryear are remembered. The walk continues through different districts, between public buildings and old houses. The route reveals a village full of character, part of a rural area in transformation, between tradition and modernity.
Designed for all ages, this family-friendly walk invites you to take your time and listen to what the surroundings have to say. It's a leisurely stroll, where the built and landscaped heritage is revealed without artifice, along a clear, well-marked route.
It's a gentle stroll that lets you see the village in a different light, through the discreet traces of its history.
