An unusual stay in this troglodyte gîte in the wine-growing commune of Puy-Notre-Dame. Beautifully renovated, this comfortable accommodation is set in the heart of the tufa rock. An unusual experience, full of charm, to discover the underground world of the region.
Come and discover, for the duration of your stay, a cave cottage in the village of Le Puy-Notre-Dame. This dwelling, carved directly out of the tuffeau stone, invites you to enjoy a unique experience and admire this beautiful renovation, whilst enjoying the comforts of a traditional holiday cottage. These cave dwellings, which are very common in the Anjou region, form part of a historical and cultural heritage that is unique in France.
As you enter the holiday home, the central room features a dining area and a lounge with a sofa, coffee table and television. Adjoining this room is a fitted and fully equipped kitchen. This holiday let also offers a large bedroom with a 140cm bed, a small bedroom with two 90cm beds, a bathroom with a shower and washbasin unit, and a separate toilet.
From the living area, you can access a small south-facing patio with garden furniture. On the level above, there is garden furniture for dining. Access to the holiday home from the car park is via a slope and a few steps. Your private outdoor area is enclosed by a gate and is not overlooked.
The owner’s house is located nearby, but your entrance and car park are separate. The gîte faces due south and enjoys a perfectly healthy climate all year round. All rooms have windows and/or doors leading outside. You’ll appreciate how cool the property is, particularly in summer. During colder periods, the central heating in every room will ensure a cosy atmosphere.
You’ll be situated 2.5 km from the River Thouet and the Vélofrancette cycle route for cycling enthusiasts. There are plenty of places to visit nearby: 10 minutes away, Montreuil-Bellay and its 12th- and 15th-century castle; 15 minutes away, Doué-la-Fontaine and the Bioparc; 23 minutes away, Saumur with its sparkling wine cellars, the Cadre Noir, the castle and the Loire… Not to mention the many wine estates, vineyards and picturesque villages of the Douessine region.
It is possible to rent both holiday cottages at the same address to accommodate 8 people. See the Troglomignon listing (reference H49G015082) on the Gîtes de France website. The outdoor areas of the two holiday cottages are separate from one another.
