An unusual stay in this troglodyte gîte in the wine-growing commune of Puy-Notre-Dame. Beautifully renovated, this comfortable accommodation is set in the heart of the tufa rock. An unusual experience, full of charm, to discover the underground world of the region.
The gîte sleeps 4 and comprises a large living room with dining area and sitting area. Separate fully-equipped kitchen. There is a large bedroom with a double bed and a small bedroom with two single beds. From the living room, you have access to a small south-facing patio with garden furniture. In this holiday rental, you can enjoy the downstairs... but also the upstairs! On the upper level, there's another, larger set of garden furniture for your meals. The owner's house is nearby, but your entrance and parking are separate, and your accommodation is unoverlooked and enclosed.
Open all year round and pleasant in all seasons, this is a cocooning holiday with plenty of heritage and natural treasures to discover in the surrounding area: the vineyards, in particular the Saumur Puy-Notre-Dame appellation, the Petites Cités de Caractère of Puy-Notre-Dame (and its Collegiate Church) and Montreuil-Bellay (and its Château), as well as Doué-la-Fontaine (troglodyte sites, Biopark, rose gardens) and Saumur and the banks of the Loire... You can also take advantage of the nearby Thouet for a pleasant walk, canoe trip or cycle ride on the Vélo Francette itinerary.
Second gîte for 4 people at the same address.
