Explore the landscapes of the Loire and learn about life along the river during a weekend of activities, audio walks and discoveries.
The Val de Loire World Heritage Mission is stopping off for a weekend of discovery and interaction, marking the launch of the Loire School-Territory project. This event brings together young and old alike for workshops, walks and opportunities to socialise.
On Friday, the programme begins at 8.30 pm with ‘Mon palais est un paysage’, a film-narrative presented by the Alice arts collective. This performance paints a sensitive portrait of life on two smallholdings in the Mauges region, exploring our relationship with the land, the landscape and good food.
On Saturday and Sunday, the ‘Le Val de Loire à la carte’ activities run continuously from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm:
- An audio quiz to help you tune into the sounds of the Loire Valley ‘The Epic of a Grain of Sand’, a fun activity to understand how the landscape is shaped A reading from the newspaper ‘La ga(r)zette’
- A self-guided audio walk The ‘Les petites bidouilles’ activity on Saturday, to hear from the islanders
Specific highlights will also punctuate these two days:
- A guided 6 km sound walk (duration 2 hours 30 minutes) entitled “How to live on flood-prone land? ’, taking place on Saturday from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm and on Sunday from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm, exploring the southern tip of the island
- On Saturday at 8.30 pm, a concert by the Trio du Bled featuring Titi Robin will be hosted by the guinguette
On Sunday between 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm, several events are scheduled simultaneously: the listening experience ‘L’oreille des Trognes’ led by audio-naturalist Boris Jollivet, a ‘Radio Loire’ discussion panel to talk about living alongside the river, and the ‘Wiki Loire’ workshop to learn how to contribute to the island’s Wikipedia page
