The tomb of the Vendée general Charles de Bonchamps, illustrious leader of the Vendée Wars, created by David d'Angers, was installed in July 1825 in the abbey church of Saint-Florent-le-Vieil. 200 years later, the town of Mauges-sur-Loire is paying tribute to the soldier and the artist with 3 days of festivities! Immerse yourself in this historic adventure!
Sunday 29 June at 9am: Open-air conference with Mr Boisève, on the theme of the Pardon de Bonchamps in the context of the Crossing of the Loire.
Attention will be paid to David d'Angers' view of Bonchamps, Saint-Florent and the Vendée, as well as Louis Aragon's view of David d'Angers and the tomb.
