Discover edible and medicinal wild plants during a half-day course in Maine-et-Loire, in the heart of the unspoilt Anjou countryside. Guided by Mickaël Jaunet, a landscape gardener and botanist with over 30 years' experience, you will learn to recognise local plants and observe their environment. Trained for 8 years in botany, including at the École Supérieure d'Agriculture d'Angers, Mickaël's knowledge is recognised in Maine-et-Loire and throughout the Pays de la Loire region.

An experience accessible to all in Maine-et-Loire

This half-day course (2.5 hours, counted as 3 hours) is ideal for all levels, from novices to the curious already initiated. The teaching is based on observation, touch and smell, for sensory learning and a natural memory of plants. You will learn how to identify the most common edible and medicinal plants, which are easily found in many biotopes throughout France, understand their ecological role and practise responsible picking, with respect for the natural environments of the Pays de la Loire. We will also look at the popular uses of plants in the past, to discover how they were used in everyday life and traditional medicine.


Places and seasons

The courses take place in the Parc des Sablières or on the banks of the Sarthe at Écouflant, depending on the nature of the vegetation and the season. This diversity of sites means you can discover the wealth of plant life in Maine-et-Loire and the Pays de la Loire at different times of the year.
