LOIR VALLEY

Almost 450 km between Verneuil sur Avre (Eure) and Rochefort sur Loire (Maine et Loire), with water as the common thread.

The route through Anjou (80 km) will take you through a variety of natural landscapes, with water as a common thread: the banks of the Loir, the wet meadows of the Basses Vallées Angevines (a Natura 2000 site), the former Ecouflant sand pits (now a place to relax and swim), the Maine river, the Lac de Maine site and finally the majestic Loire ...

The route is punctuated by the region's typical built heritage: Durtal and its castle, Villevêque and its mill, the village of Matheflon, the town of Angers, its fortress and its old-fashioned narrow streets, the characterful village of Savennières and Béhuard, a little nugget of Anjou heritage.
