A 6-day walking tour of the Coteaux du Layon
This 124km itinerary invites you to explore the diverse landscapes of the Coteaux du Layon, where nature and heritage meet in harmony. From the Angevin cornice overlooking the confluence of the Loire and Layon rivers, to the vineyards of the Coteaux, this walk is a plunge into the heart of the "gentle Angevine". Between châteaux, mills and troglodyte dwellings, each step brings you a little closer to the historical and natural riches of this region.
PRACTICAL TIPS AND INFORMATION :
Departure and difficulty levels: This loop, signposted along its entire length, can be done from Thouarcé and is ideally completed in 6 days. It is accessible to all levels, with a few changes in altitude to be expected in the wine-growing and forest areas. Depending on your wishes, it can be divided into several stages.

As part of a car-free holiday, you can reach Thouarcé in just one hour by taking a coach from Angers.

- Loire-en-Layon: At the confluence of the rivers of the same name, the Corniche angevine overlooks this area, offering breathtaking panoramas for lovers of remarkable landscapes.
- The Coteaux du Layon: This exceptional site, shaped by man, is famous for its vineyards producing excellent wines. The landscape still bears the imprint of history, with its many châteaux, mills and vineyard huts.
- The Gennois: Here, the yellow tufa stone typical of the region is omnipresent, whether in cellars, troglodyte dwellings or châteaux. Forests and moors add a touch of wilderness, enhanced by the majesty of the Loire.
- Loire-Aubance and banks of the Louet: Enjoy a peaceful stroll along these waterways, which are often calm and soothing, and are a perfect illustration of Angevine's famous "gentleness". The tranquillity of these places is an invitation to relaxation and serenity.
