It's a great loop that follows the Loire à Vélo cycle route before reaching Les Ponts-de-Cé via the Aubance vineyards.
This 52km loop can be completed in one or two days. Starting in Les Ponts-de-Cé, south of Angers, you cycle along the Loire as far as Saint-Mathurin on the Loire à Vélo. The section south of the Loire plunges into the Aubance hills before descending to Angers.
ADVICE AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION
This loop is fully signposted. Most of it is on shared lanes on roads with little traffic, so we recommend that you take care.
Between La Bohalle and Saint Mathurin, you can take the service road at the foot of the embankment. It is regularly flooded and can present obstacles. It is not surfaced, so we recommend at least a mountain bike or a hiker to use it.
Breakdown of the loop
Les Ponts-de-Cé - Saint Mathurin, 18km, 60% shared lanes (excluding the path at the foot of the embankment). Signposted by La Loire à Vélo.
We strongly advise against using the D952 (Loire levee).
Saint-Mathurin-Les Ponts-de-cé, 33km, 80% shared lanes, generic white cycling logo on green background.
Accommodation :
Accommodation with the Accueil Vélo label can be found all along the route. They guarantee dedicated services for cycle tourists.
Bike hire and repair shops:
Located in the main towns along the route.
