A 3-day cycling tour of Anjou's most famous vineyards
This 89km loop will take you to the heart of Anjou's most emblematic wine-growing landscapes. From the slopes of Savennières to the hillsides of Layon and Aubance, it's an epicurean getaway for nature lovers and lovers of fine wines.
ADVICE AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION
This loop is fully signposted, and can be walked in either direction from Chalonnes-sur-Loire or Angers. It is not particularly difficult, although there are a few changes in altitude at Savennières and in the Layon. It can be done in 2 or 3 days, depending on your pace and desire for discovery.
Breakdown of the loop :
- Angers > Chalonnes, 29 km, signposted La Loire à Vélo (towards Nantes), 60% on greenways.
- Chalonnes > Thouarcé, 28 km, signposted Anjou, vineyards and villages, 60% greenways.
- Thouarcé > Brissac-Quincé, 18 km, signposted Anjou, vineyards and villages, 60% greenways.
- Brissac-Quincé > Angers (via Bouchemaine), 32 km, signposted Anjou, vineyards and villages and La Loire à Vélo, 70% greenways.
