Mémoire de Drain: a journey into the heart of history and memories
What if you could travel back in time to discover the soul of Drain?
Born out of the passion of its residents, Mémoire de Drain is a collective project that invites you to explore what once made the heart of the village beat. Bustling shops, craftspeople, festivals, local societies, village squares… all places where encounters, exchanges and everyday life came together.
For nearly a year, around twenty residents shared their memories, anecdotes and knowledge in order to preserve the memory of their village and pass on its identity to the generations of today and tomorrow.
As you follow a historical trail through the heart of the village, let yourself be guided through the stories, the people and the places that have shaped Drain.
Then continue your exploration on the website, where you can delve deeper into the commune’s rich rural heritage: its villages, the prominent families who have left their mark on it, its history during the First World War, and the men and women whose initiatives, commitment and ideas contributed to the social changes whose legacy we still enjoy today.
An invitation to discover this area in a different light, through the stories of those who lived through it.
Free and self-guided tour
