Stroll through the grounds of Château de la Turmelière in the footsteps of Joachim du Bellay!
Opposite Ancenis, the birthplace of the famous poet Joachim du Bellay, Liré boasts a magnificent green park surrounding the Château de la Turmelière.
This 40-hectare wooded park is an ideal place for a family outing, as it is made up of different areas. So there's something for everyone!
Once you've passed the entrance gates to the park, the narrow road running through the estate offers a beautiful view of the 19th-century château. Stop for a few moments near the pond and cross the small bridge to discover the small island in the middle of the pond, offering an uninterrupted view of the château.
Walk around the castle to discover its architecture. At the rear of the château, the terrace overlooks the surrounding countryside and gives access to an old dovecote.
A short path leads down to the ruins of Joachim du Bellay's former birthplace.
It's a lovely walk, whatever the season. The park is open from 6am to 10pm every day.
