Sentier d'interprétation "Sur les pas de Du Bellay"

Following in the footsteps of the famous and emblematic Renaissance author Joachim Du Bellay, the route, punctuated by poems, takes in a number of different landscapes in Liré

"Happy is he who, like Ulysses, has made a beautiful journey...". Surely these lines bring back memories of your school days? Did you know that the author lived here, in Liré, and was very attached to "his gentle Angevine"? This interpretive trail will give you the chance to explore the places that were dear to our poet's heart. So you too can set off on a "beautiful journey"!

Starting at the museum dedicated to Joachim du Bellay, take a walk through the town to discover his statue and the ruins of his birthplace at La Turmelière. The itinerary, punctuated by poetic extracts from the famous Renaissance author, takes you through vineyards and orchards and reveals some fine views over the Loire Valley.

This 7-kilometre walk through the commune of Liré is ideal for families and friends, and is accessible to pushchairs. Allow two hours for this romantic walk.
