This treasure trove of art and history has been housed in a former shopping centre since 1993.
Art and its evolution from the 16th century to the present day: the tour begins with the main genres of academic painting and gradually moves on to contemporary art. You can admire works by Nattier, Coypel, Michel Jouët and Vasarely. One room is dedicated to Cholet artist François Morellet, whose work has won him international acclaim and has been exhibited in New York - his lifelong dream. He is also one of only 4 artists to have entered the Louvre in their lifetime.
The history of Cholet, from the Gallo-Roman era to the First World War: the museum is packed with archival documents, paintings, sculptures, archaeological objects, weapons, etc. and presents Cholet's heyday with a focus on the Vendée Wars.
