Come and meet the inhabitants of the Saint-Aubin pond in Pouancé, in a fun way for all the family, by following the interpretation trail "in the footsteps of the crested fisherman".
This 3.7-kilometre route is based on the hiking trail "Au fil de l'eau".
To begin your walk, from the top of the playground, you can take in the expanse of the Saint-Aubin pond. The first sign on the bank invites you to follow the adventures of the Great Crested Grebe, your guide. The stations take the form of games to help you discover the life of the pond, its specific fauna and how it works. It's easy to spot the many ducks hovering in the middle of the water, as well as the grey herons, coots and moorhens hiding in the vegetation along the banks.
The tail of the pond is more secretive. Listen out for the songs of the frogs, aquatic warblers and Philomène nightingales.
Look in the willows and at the water's edge for the nests of Grebes and Green-necked Ducks or the flash of the Kingfisher.
On the way back, the flower-filled hay meadows are home to numerous butterflies, while dragonflies flutter along the sunny banks. Take the footbridge to complete your loop.
