Way-marked trail in the form of a horse-riding circuit with rural charm through the small country lanes to the south of the Daumeray countryside.
Starts from the Daumeray sports hall car park, rue de la Liberté.
The village of Saint-Germain is listed in the department's inventory of picturesque sites, and features homes dating from the 15th to 18th centuries, including the Bellefontaine dwelling and the 11th-century church of Saint-Germain, which belonged to Marmoutier Abbey and is a listed historic monument.
Nothing seems to have changed in this village since the nave of the church was completed before the Revolution.
We are approaching the hamlet of Doucé, 200 m from the route, which is not lacking in charm with its 11th-century Romanesque chapel: the chapel of Saint-Étienne de Doucé. The façade still features a pointed barrel door and the small Romanesque openings in the choir with its flat chevet. Inside, there are still a number of 13th and 14th century frescoes and statues, the most original of which is of a black Virgin.
You arrive at Les Mirés, a former hamlet, where you will find the Chapelle des Mirés, dedicated to Saint-François. This small building, now privately owned, is square in plan and has trefoil windows. The altar is dated 1690 on the pediment.
Take the rue de l'étang and the old wash-house, which dates back to the 1850s and was recently renovated by volunteers from the Association Daumeray d'Histoire en Découverte, behind the village hall.
Car park at Daumeray village hall, rue de la Liberté.
Public toilets in the town of Daumeray, to the left of the town hall, at 25 rue de la Fraternité.
Picnic tables in the grounds of the village hall, at the service station or in the hamlet of Doucé near the chapel.
