Château de Vaux

At the crossroads of the Mayenne and Sarthe rivers, in Miré in Anjou, Château de Vaux was built in the 15th century. It was the first home of Jean Bourré (minister of Louis XI).

Château de Vaux was the first residence built by Jean Bourré, between 1464 and 1468. The lord of Le Plessis, a friend of Louis XI, went on to build many more, including Le Plessis-Bourré, Langeais and Jarzé. One of the rare examples of pre-Renaissance architecture.
