October at Micro-Folie!
Event month at Micro-Folie! Mental Health Week takes place from 1 to 8 October! Followed by the Fête de la science on 8 and 11 October (with a conference, workshop and exhibition on the programme). And last but not least, Micro-Folie will be chilling out at Halloween from 18 to 25 October! Artist Marion Barraud is back with new workshops. For the little ones, the Café-Folie will be transformed into a creative space!
# MICRO-VISIT: ARTISTS AND TORMENT
Artists are often perceived as tormented, especially the most famous from previous centuries. Micro-Folie invites you to discover them through the prism of Mental Health and Social Connections Week.
Are artists good because they are tormented, or are they good in spite of their torment? How do their creations allow us to see their troubles? Is singularity synonymous with talent? Are social ties the solution or the cause? We can ask ourselves these questions through the works of several emblematic artists: Caravaggio, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec... ! Come and discover this theme through a micro-visit, to share a moment of reflection around this important week.
Wednesday 1 and 8 October at 3pm. Saturday 4 October at 11am.
# FÊTE DE LA SCIENCE 2025
The Micro-Folie is part of the Fête de la science 2025!
This year's theme is WATER. Come and discover this molecule, essential to life on earth, in a whole new way.
Wednesday 8 and Saturday 11 October:
- Exhibition: careers in water-related scientific research in comics! Through portraits of researchers, come and discover the possible subjects of research, about or around this H2O molecule.
Saturday 11 October :
- 10.30am to 12.30pm: Workshop for 6-10 year-olds, with artist Marion Barraud, creating a large-scale aquatic drawing using watercolours, tracing paper and materials. Free, booking required
- 2.30pm to 3.30pm: "Telling the story of the Loire through myths and art" by Claudine Paque, an associate professor of literature and storyteller, and Roselyne Le Saux, an artist who has embroidered the Loire from Mont-Glonne. Join them for a chat about art, words and the history of the Loire.
# MICRO-VISIT: AS VAST AS THE UPSIDE-DOWN SKY
The Micro-Folie invites you to visit the work of Zhu Hong, who is exhibiting at the Abbey from 13 September to 2 November 2025! Her meticulous and poetic work echoes works from the Micro-Folie's digital collection!
Wednesday 15 at 3pm and Saturday 18 at 11am.
The artist is inspired by water, and uses this element in her drawings and paintings! Her sense of detail and precision come from the many photographs she takes beforehand. This allows her to rework her visuals before finally applying them to her various media.
# HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES!
Come and shiver at the Micro-Folie! This year we're offering two workshops!
Artist Marion Barraud returns for an exhibition and two workshops (6 - 10 years). The Micro-Folie is transformed to offer you free access activities for the little ones ...
>>> Wednesday 22 October, 2.30pm to 4.30pm - Create a pop-up card depicting gods or goddesses from water mythology. Bookings required!
>>> Saturday 25 October, 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm - Create stencils to represent a mythological scene in black and sepia, in the style of ancient amphorae. Book in advance!
During the day: free, open-access workshops for 4-8 year-olds accompanied by an adult (from 18 to 25 October):
>>> Hanging cats: make funny cats to hang from your window or in your bedroom.
>>> Felt pumpkin garland: let your imagination run wild!
>>> Draw on the windows for Halloween with your scariest inspiration!
>>> A big paper spider to terrorise your home!
