The horse-riding trail in the forest from Chambiers to Beauvau takes you along forest paths shaded by the leaves of hundred-year-old beech, hornbeam and oak trees in the heart of a sensitive natural area in Anjou.
A flat walking route mainly on forest paths in the Chambiers forest.
You're right in the heart of the forest, a sensitive natural area in Anjou. This nature reserve is full of treasures, and the trail changes with the seasons as the many different plants blossom. With patience and discretion, it's not unusual to catch a glimpse of the animals that inhabit the forest.
In medieval times, the forest was owned by the nobility and extended far beyond its present boundaries. Rich in game, the massif became a hunting ground.
Mainly coniferous, the Chambiers forest was classified as a Nature Reserve in 1990. Its varied fauna and flora include conifers and other broadleaved trees, and the forest is classified as a Sensitive Natural Area by the Department.
On your way, you'll pass the Dolmen des Mollières, the oldest monument in the commune of Beauvau, located a few kilometres after the start, accessible from a path that climbs to the left 800 m from the church on the route de Marcé.
In Beauvau, the Church of Saint-Martin de Vertou, listed in 1968, was originally a modest chapel surrounded by woodland, built with the village. You can guess that Pierre de Beauvau, accompanied by King René d'Anjou, knelt in the choir of this church.
