Let yourself be guided along the water's edge, in the shade of the great oaks, in an intimate atmosphere.
From the car park near the pond dike, the path winds through the forest and along the shore, offering some lovely views. At the water's edge, you can observe the pond's wildlife without disturbing it. Interpretation panels will help you recognise the site's dragonflies and birds.
As you continue, you move away from the pond a little, but remain in a wetland area where you will encounter characteristic plant and animal species. If you are discreet, you may be able to see and hear the agile frogs and green frogs that inhabit these areas.
Then stop off at the small dyke near the end of the pond to observe the wealth of birdlife: Great Crested Grebe, Red-necked Grebe, Black Kite, etc. But be careful: in this open landscape, you'll have to play hide-and-seek to spot the grebes before they dive or take refuge in the nearest reedbed.
The return journey takes you along the opposite bank, which has been laid out for fishing. Take the time to watch the dragonflies come and go as they hunt at the water's edge. At the end of the route, you can also enjoy the built heritage: remains of a windmill, a watermill and a fishery.
