Restaurant La Route du Sel

"La Route du Sel" is located in a traditional tufa house built in 1851, on the left bank of the Loire. It takes its name from the ancient practice of using the Loire to transport salt from Nantes to the centre of France.

Today, the restaurant is a family business, run by the fifth generation from the region. In a relaxed atmosphere, seasonal menus, local produce and unique wines chosen for you at reasonable prices by the glass or bottle. Set in the pretty, peaceful village of Le Thoureil, a "Petite Cité de Caractère" (Small Town of Character) in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Loire Valley, La Route du Sel offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the river from its restaurant, terrace and garden.
